Pilgrims come to Waltham Cross to stand on the stone laid by Councillor K.A.Ayling, Leader of Broxbourne Council, on completion of the piazza scheme in 2007 [2]. If they look up they may also notice the plaque [1] and a stone cross erected in 1294 by Edward I to mark a resting place of the hearse carrying his first wife Eleanor of Castile.



The proximity of these two historical events is quite moving.

There seems to be nothing here yet about the Eleanor Crosses -- so let's fix that.
