Before I retired I took a photograph of my pre #proteomics analog data repository of #Edman sequencing results. Two large index card boxes contain the amino acid sequences of peptide digests of proteins and some QC results for synthetic peptides. The plastic boxes helped them survive a flood. #Proteomics replaced Edman sequencing decades ago and now generates giga- and terrabytes of data that you would never write down on paper. I had an intimate connection to the data that is gone today.

@mattmaison @cooljames @josephgruber I’ll hate him on the #Phillies. He’s awesome to watch and assuming health, could definitely be in for a big big year.
I could actually see quite a few speedsters getting a bump w the new rules and base. Guys like Mullins, #JRam, Kyle Tucker and Tommy #Edman.
If #Volpe gets the opportunity, he might explode on the scene as well with his speed and turn into the next Trea Turner.

When I determined the primary structure of IGF2 variant by #Edman sequencing I noticed that the canonical and variant protein was cleaved in either of two positions following the signal sequence. The predicted cleavage site is A24 but, experimentally I saw there is in our blood about 30% A23 and 70% A24 IGF2 . My guess was that the two consecutive Ala residues causes "slippage" by the protease. Maybe amino acid repeats are something to look for near your protein cleavage site.
