Because, when people date IRL they completely ignore income, right?

It really feels like the researchers did their research by checking people who date online, but did not do the equivalent research for IRL dating, and came to some bullshit conclusions.

I don't care much about my partners' income, but I'm not looking for partners who will get on my case because I've decided that I'd rather scale down my dreams rather than maximize my "earning potential."
