Petition for all websites to replace #FFFFFF backgrounds with #EEEEEE

fg-color #eeeeee;

EEEEEEEEE

pretty fun optical illusion i accidentally made writing my blog css

the background rectangle is grey (#EEEEEE), but the foreground/left one is slightly greenish (#EEFFEE)

but because my blog's background is that minty green color it makes it seem like the left one is grey ^^

@volpeon

Bright color, not quite white?

City of Columbus Trash Collection Changes for Labor Day

I miss contrast. Just contrast. Decently contrasty text, captions that always have black borders so that they could be read over any color or pattern, etc.

I'm so sick of seeing #FFFFFF white captions above #EEEEEE white regions of images/videos.

This was fixed in the 80s.

And don't even get me started on active window decorations.

@starbreaker
I love this. A note on readability: White text on black is good for those who need a high-contrast theme, but the contrast level can be a little too high for readers sensitive to that kind of thing. I've found that black text (#000000) on a not-quite-white background (#f8f8f8 to #eeeeee) is very readable without being too high contrast.

On the other hand, your font is very readable.

The background of diagonal stripes may affect people who have a problem with optical illusions of motion. As I scroll, the background gives the appearance of horizontal as well as vertical movement. A solid neutral color would be more unobtrusive, not drawing the reader's eye away from the content.

If you don't mind adding some CSS, allowing the user to choose light, dark, or high-contrast themes would be accessible to the widest range of people. (Maybe this can be implemented without CSS, but from my limited HTML 1 training, this might require multiple copies of the site. On the other hand, if the site isn't bloated with HTML5 and scripts, multiple copies might still be compact enough.)
