#EbikeRides Well, that makes 53 miles ridden this week so far after todays 11 mile ride.

Battery was down to 11% when I got home. So it's on charge. It claimed to have 7 miles range left in it.

A windy and cold ride, had to put my fleece jacket on because the medium thick jumper wasn't enough the other day. It's the middle of May and the daytime temps aren't getting above 11-12ºC at all.

Strong cross winds, so the ride out and back weren't hampered to much by headwinds. Only a section where I turn back towards town for about a mile.

It also decided to rain for a few mins when I got to the bench I take these pics from. There I was sat, getting wet and I checked the solar generation back at home and it was brilliant sunshine and 4kw of power being generated... I'm 5.5 miles away getting wet and chilled to the bone... go figure.

I think the cold did get to me though... I'm exhausted and tired now... I feel like I should go for a lie down for an hour and watch a movie... But.. I know that if i fall asleep... I won;t be able to sleep tonight. So I'm gonna drink loads of caffeine instead and cross my fingers.

#EbikeRides time again. It was very cold and very windy today. So I only did a 10 mile ride. But that's 42 miles ridden so far this week already, and enough battery left to do at least another 15 mile ride on Friday (it's supposed to be nice then, and wet on Thurs).

I also found out that the cycle route has been extended another mile or two across the top of the forest to another small town.

So technically, the 18 mile ride I sometimes do to the edge of the forest, can be a 22 mile ride without the need to try and ride through, very rough, stony fire roads in the forest itself.

But I will wait until much warmer weather to attempt that.

#EbikeRides my current view once more, tide is out... I really need to check them before I set off.

Weather is chilly with a strong breeze, temps around 11 degrees, but the sun keeps poking out from behind the clouds, and that warms you nicely.

Expecting a strong headwind on the return 8 mile journey.

But that makes 32 miles ridden in 2 days.

My current view, out on one of my #EbikeRides this morning

#altxt are all views across woodlands, fields with blue skies and mountains in the background

#EbikeRides time again.

Weather has been good this week, the wind... not so much.

But I have managed 41 miles so far since Sunday over 3 rides. So I've got that going for me... which is nice. There's still 29% battery left from this charge, so if it's good on Saturday, I can get out for another 10-12 miles at least.

Got down to the estuary again today, and the tide was in. Sat on the bench overlooking it for a while, just relaxing in the sunshine.

Took the usual shot towards the mountains for a gif at the end of the year on the way back.

Hit a strong headwind on the return journey. But changed tactics, so for the first 2.5 miles where it's most open countryside. I used level 2 assist and high gears. But the battery level was dropping fast, so when I crossed over the river and can ride along slightly more sheltered sections for the next few miles, I dropped into level 1 assist and lowered the gear. So I rode slower, but without draining the battery as much.

I normally like to ride around 12-15mph, and my avg speed over the last 1000 miles is about 12.5mph. It's a nice steady speed without overexerting myself, and the pedal assist cuts out at 15.5mph anyway. So when I get a tailwind and am cruising along at 16-17mpg... it's all under my own power with no assist. Which is why I can do 8 miles on 6% battery. But with a headwind, use 18% on the return trip.

I hope that my cardio will improve again... I've been feeling a little sluggish and drained lately.

Tried to make sure I take my B12 pills every day rather than forgetting for weeks at a time. Also getting out in the sunshine for a vitamin D boost... and being out in the countryside can help with hay fever allergies. Since moving here almost 4yrs ago, I've noticed an improvement in my allergies... fresher air, less city pollution really does help.

#EbikeRides That was a tough one... very cloudy out, could barely see the mountains. Tailwind on the outbound journey, so hardly used any battery... 5.5 miles on 5%.

But I could feel how strong the wind was at my back... So I stopped at my usual spot to take these pics for a gif at the end of the year... and then came home.

Required a lot of extra legwork to combat the wind, and needed level 2 assist as well. So that 5.5 miles out on 5% battery, was 21% battery on the return journey.

Which means, 27 miles ridden since Sunday on 47% of the battery. Not great, but on track for at least 50 miles out of this charge. Weather supposed to improve for the next couple of days again. But lots of DIY jobs to do around the house, clearing the drains along the front of the house, cleaning down the drive and resanding to bind the blockwork together again after all of the building stuff that's been going on.

Then I get to do the same out the back... Yay!!! me.

Hence waiting for the sunshine again... it's wet work.

#EbikeRides time once more.

Weather is still good, and I was up nice and early, refreshed after a good nights sleep... Properly caffeinated and raring to get out there.

Very little wind at all out there today, just a gentle breeze. So aside from a quick burst in level 2 assist for that last hill... I rode the whole journey in eco mode.

Went all the way to the sea today too, but the tide was out when I got to the estuary.

Had a sit looking out towards the sea though, and watching hundreds of little bee's flying about pollinating from all of the wildflowers.

I then stopped on the way back to get the same pics I'm trying to every time... hopefully for a gif at the end of the year.

Forgot to take my drink with me, and it was rather warm out there... Not warm enough to get away with just wearing a t-shirt, so I had a light jumper on too. So stopped at a little shop that charged me £2.54 for a can of pepsi max and a small chocolate bar... and the chocolate bar was 89p... so a 330ml can was £1.65... disgusting.

#EbikeRides time again... it has been about 2 weeks since my last one due to other stuff going on... Like gale force winds and being tired and unwell.

So even though it's been beautiful sunny weather for the last 5 days. I couldn't get out in it until today.

Just a 12 mile ride, and me being the numpty that I am, managed to do the first 2.5 miles with the bike turned off before noticing... an only them as I realised on a slight uphill incline that it was harder work than normal. 🤦

A bit hazy towards the mountains again, tried to get roughly the same shot as I have previously... at the end of the year will try to remember to collate them into a gif or something.

Sat on a nice bench overlooking fields towards the mountains for a good 20-30 mins, sipping on a cold lemon drink.

Was very peaceful and calming... weather forecast is good for the next few days too... So battery is on charge, and I'll be ready to go again.

#EbikeRides day again, could really get used to this no job thing.

Sunny warm day again, so out I went.

11 miles again, took these pics from the exact same spot as yesterday.

I thought, I'd try and take the same pic each time I pass that spot, throughout the year and compile them into a gif or little video at the end of 2026.

That way you can see the change in seasons as I do, I am more of a fair weather rider though... so doubtful there will be many rides in the winter... I managed just 3 between 1st Dec and 1st March... and aborted 2 more due to it starting to rain as I got the bike out.

Not much wind at all today, so it was level 1 assist all the way out and 90% of the way back. So yesterday took about 25% of the battery to do 11 miles, due to the headwind and level 2 assist to keep at my desired 12-13mph avg speed.

Today, it was 11.5 miles and took just 15% which included the higher assist needed for those last 2 hills.
