I'm working on my hormone replacement therapy regiment and need some advice.

I am MTF non-binary/transgender.

I've started estradiol transdermal but am unsure, for various reasons, about wanting to start any androgen antagonists (like spironolactone).

I am interested in reducing facial and body hair and receding hairline for which 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors are used, namely *Finasteride and *Dutasteride.

What’s y'all's experience, if any, with these drugs?

My main concern is that there's a chance of increased anxiety and depression.

can someone tell me more about #dutasteride? what i have so far:
- blocks the conversion of testosterone into dht
- less hair growth on body, but reduced hair loss on head
- may increase circulating testosterone levels if it isn’t fully suppressed (what does fully mean?)
- inhibits certain neurosteroids that control mood/anxiety/stress/… (is that good?)

it seems that reliable information is scarce

do you think it makes sense to add it to estradiol monotherapy? i'd be mainly interested in the body hair reduction. what is the deal with the neurosteroids thing? i don't understand what that does. does it make mood go up, or down?
