#DriftIce (#流氷) at the Sea of #Okhotsk last weekend, off the coast at #Abashiri, #Hokkaido, #Japan 🧊❄️

The drift ice originates where the #Amur River meets the ocean in eastern Siberia, and then travels all the way to northern Hokkaido. With it, it brings nutrients and unique fauna - one of nature's many spectacles and a true #biodiversity catalyst. However, in a world above 2°C of warming, the ice may no longer reach Hokkaido.
