Last #DisabilityResearchForum of the year. Just heard from T. Poongkothai on research with unmarried visually impaired women in India. Now Steve Graby @DisabledCoOps presenting on #disabled people’s cooperatives - orgs collectively owned by members. Case studies of disabled people’s coops incl BSL coops, care, housing, disabled workers’. Sense from participants that disabled people don’t know much about them but have potential for overcoming barriers & shared values w/ disabled ppl’s movement.
#DisabilityResearchForum Arianna Introna now presenting on their book, 'Crip Enchantments: Autonomist Narratives of #Disability in Modern #Scottish Narrative.' We usually start with premise that capitalism is a problem for disability. Turning that around: how can we be a problem for capitalism & normalcy? Non-normative bodies & minds clashing with structures - "crip enchantments." How Scottish writing imagines disability this way. #DisabilityStudies #LiteraryStudies #ScottishStudies 1/
