I noticed some people on #mastodon started sharing unlocked NYT articles. I found this so cool, I looked it up, and feel like subscribing just to reward them a little.

But I wonder - is the idea for this to be used on social media, where it could potentially be boosted and reach 1000s? Would widespread use of this scare them into dropping the feature?

Any insights?
