 Tamagotchi Smart Review Thread 

I do this with every tama run I do, even if I've already reviewed a tamagotchi, but this one is new to me, so I have no idea what to expect.

First impressions: Like the pix, I lament the lack of physical buttons. I think pretty physical buttons is a big part of the tamagotchi experience that is fun. I swipe on my phone all day. My phone is a tool. My tamagotchi is a toy and I want it to feel like one.

Maybe my fingers are weird, and also I have long nails, but the screen doesn't feel well calibrated nor is it easy to do gestures, which you need to do to get to other menus.

Switching to english was super easy. I just bought this english patch card and followed the instructions on the product page and it was done really fast! (I did plug the card in wrong 3 times though )

If you don't like tamagotchis, this is a good time to mute the #tamagotchi hashtag.

If you're not aware, groups on mastodon boost anything that is posted that tags the group to all the followers of the group. It's a way to engage in a special interest, without having to follow someone you otherwise have nothing in common with. Normally, if you just use a hashtag, that will only federate to instances you already have a connection with, but if you use the group, that will always boost to everyone following the group, which will help you get a better reach. Think of groups like a supercharged hashtag for the fediverse. If you like tamas, follow @tamagotchi and tag it in your tamagotchi posts and you'll be helping the group grow and reach out to more instances
