Silent spring - The system of regulation is failing.

"Banned chemicals dieldrin, DDE detected in bodies of magpies. About 30 magpies were taken to a vet after showing signs of paralysis and weakness, with nine dying in care.The Environment Protection Agency found traces of two chemicals that have been banned since the 1980s and 1990s."

"#Dieldrin is an organic chemical once used as a pesticide in crops and to control termites.

It was banned by the US EPA in the late 1980s for its environmental hazards and potential carcinogenic effects. The chemical is not regulated by the US EPA so there is no maximum contaminant level."
