Jacob Tynes was sworn in as the newest member of the #DicksonOK school board tonight. He replaces Todd Myers, who died in December 2023.

Tynes was immediately put to work during a marathon 2-hour meeting that saw discussion or votes on topics ranging from school schedules to safety to a nearly $2.4 million bond proposal.

I took a drive today and ended up in Springer and Gene Autry, but my most productive stop was at #DicksonOK Town Hall.

As a result, the Dickson resource page on Carter Observer has been updated to include town board members and their public meeting schedule.

As far as I can tell, there are roughly five copies of the code of ordinances for the town of #DicksonOK; one with each member of the board of trustees, one with the town clerk, and one at the county courthouse.

There does not seem to be a digital copy of it anywhere that can be easily found.

The other two town halls I visited in #CarterCountyOK today were closed. Granted it was around lunchtime...

When I asked the lone staff writer at my local newspaper when another reporter would be hired, he shrugged and told me he has the energy to be the only reporter in the county.

I'm sorry, my dude, but no amount of energy will get you to simultaneous school board meetings in #LoneGroveOK and #DicksonOK.

Because both of those school districts hold their monthly board meetings on the same day.
