This is my first week back at reporting (compared to research and development of a new news outlet), and I'm ready for the #CarterCountyOK Commission meeting in 25 minutes.

I'll be looking closely at the final audits of the former sheriff after some rather bold allegations were made against him as he left office at the end of 2024.

@blogoklahoma Down here in #CarterCountyOK our most recent sheriff's race was a closed GOP primary that ended in a tie and was determined by drawing a name from a bowl.

IDK if open primaries is the answer, but closed primaries in rural areas with a GOP death grip obviously disenfranchises almost half of our electorate (especially in local races).

I cast early ballot 1,994 in #CarterCountyOK #oklahoma #election this morning

Sirens in #ArdmoreOK going off for the 3rd time tonight.

There will not be a Carter Observer recording of the March 25 meeting of the #CarterCountyOK Commission due to a prior engagement.

With that said, the commission will consider calling an election for a new 0.125% county sales tax.

The #CarterCountyOK admin building has seen upgrades in recent months and more work is expected over the next year.

While that work restricts one parking lot, where should county employees park?

One real estate group wants to lease a vacant lot in #ArdmoreOK for $2,750.

County seeks to expand warning siren footprint, delays parking lot agreement – Carter Observer

There were three really interesting stories from today's #CarterCountyOK commission meeting. One regards replacing heat/air units for admin buildings - should the county approve the lowest bid or the best value?

The other two regard the great equalizer: one about a private cemetery and the other about the unclaimed bodies of recently deceased. More on that to come over on @CarterObserver later this week*

Commission approves HVAC unit for health department – Carter Observer

No public meetings in #CarterCountyOK due to #PresidentsDay but heads up because #ArdmoreOK trash pickup is scheduled for this Monday.

Oh fun the #Oklahoma health department releases annual jail inspections online and the #CarterCountyOK jail is somehow worse than the shit hole I saw during the 2023 inspection.
