@DebOppermann .. Following 👍 I’m a #DesertTortiose mom & a #reptile & #amphibian advocate. We get injured #turtles in for care, #WesternPondTurtles (California’s only native turtle) & #RedEarredSlidders an “invasive species”. Sliders are the pet store turtles & #IrresponsiblePetOwners have released them into the environment causing havoc for our native turtle. Results: Western Pond Turtles are now listed as a Species of Special Concern. Populations are down as much as 80% in some areas.
