@s0mmer As a blind iPhone user, who uses both VoiceControl & VoiceOver, I am unable to reboost this post, as there was not even an attempt to provide audio description for it. Apple could've easily addressed this in the description or in the comments, the latter before disabling them.
After listening to this video I am particularly interested in what appears to be a scene of a blind person using their iPhone as a wayfinding device. This is extremely irresponsible. Apple image recognition, as impressive as it is, is no substitute for sight, and it's definitely not suitable as a wayfaring device. I certainly would never put my life in my iPhone hands, when it can't transcribe simple words I have already added to its definition list. I have been saying "inaccessibility" to my iPhone ever since I got it in March, and it never fails to transcribe that word as "INXS ability".
Nor does the fact that every time someone issued a command in the video, my iPhone responded by executing that command instill confidence in me that an iPhone can successfully be used as a wayfinding device by the average blind individual.
Apple needs to address the inaccessibility of the video to its blind & visually impaired customers, & please explain to us, the blind, why are they included footage of an iPhone being used as a wayfinding device.
#alt4me #desc4me - this video has been tagged so that a group of volunteers can provide audio description. Please feel free to add your own audio description to this thread. Thank you.
