Before and after

I am beyond happy with how this turned out.

#HomeImprovement #DefinitelyNotDIY

The forecast says showers this afternoon.

SD #2 has arrived and is working on the north wall, right under our office . . .

Fingers crossed he finishes the job today. I'm not upset it's taking so long, I just want it done.

Day Three of the Siding Project ends with . . . a bit left to do.

The north wall, while it had no windows or doors, needed burring out to make the surfaces even. That took time.

Between that and new SD taking over from a team mid project, it's no surprise it still isn't finished.

Probably tomorrow, though.

A *different* Siding Dude is coming to finish the job.

I was hoping for the same one, but oh well. They do their scheduling thing as they do,

Why siding?

Because there aren't any house-painters around here. None. Believe me, I tried going that route. For the last couple of years, I've tried to find one.

But this? This won't need redoing.

LAST UPDATE FOR 5/6:

Before and after of the south side

They didn't get to the trim around the door or the corner pieces. Those will go on on Saturday. The dark area under the doorstep is brown metal. No more concrete blocks!

I can hardly believe it.

UPDATE: SD and partner finished the west wall entirely, and got everything but the trim done on the south. As with most jobs, the estimate was blue-sky and the reality, a bit cloudy. The exterior wasn't built by builders, y'know? It was men who knew how to make furniture, carts, wagons, farm implements . . . So the construction was a bit, shall I say, interesting. Boards on the south were vertical, but those on the west were horizontal. The north, vertical. Flooring poked out below the western side on the south wall, with boards under it . . . Yeah. Different.

I hope to get photos later today. Tomorrow, at latest. SD will be back Saturday to finish up. The trim is simple, and the north wall has no windows or doors. Just wall.

Gotta go, am cooking dinner. ::waves::

SD and his partner have moved on to the south wall, where the window and door are. I got back from errands just in time, because in a little while here entry won't be possible.

(Our front door is literally blocked off inside by a Chinese screen. When I was a child, it was never used by us; if anyone knocked, we knew it was a traveling salesman or the Jehovah's Witnesses.)

UPDATE: Partial siding on west wall! It's proven a bit more tricky than anticipated, I think, but better them than us.

The main dude will be back tomorrow morning bright and early to keep on truckin'. We agree that he should tackle the south wall next, as it's more difficult than the north (that one has no openings to deal with as we're just "boarding it up" as it were) what with the window and door.

So glad to be getting this done!

When I said the exterior is in rough shape . . .

Proof.

They're wisely starting with the easiest wall. The heater had been just to the right of that yellow pipe leading from behind the meter.

We're going from wood to steel. Upgrades.
