We're listening to and remembering Garek Druss today, a sweet soul and deeply intelligent and curious artist. He was one of my earliest friends on the west coast, indirectly the reason I met my long term partner, and one of a handful of relationships from that time in my life that lasted to today.

We were never terribly intimate, but he was always warm and interested in hearing what I was up to, no matter how much time had passed—first during my years in Seattle, and later in Los Angeles. I reached out during the recent fires to check on his family and offer refuge, and didn't hear anything back. Sad news this morning.
