Despite the ring's description that says, "hits may cause instant death", Shanoa actually loses HP equal to her maximum HP with each hit (ignoring the CON and MND stats).Because of this, there's an exception around the instant death effect, if Shanoa is equipped with the Heart Cuirass and the sum of her HP and Hearts is over her maximum HP, she will survive with a small ammount of HP left. Normally, if at full HP and with at least 1 Heart, all Hearts will be lost, and her HP will be equal to the number of Hearts she had before being hit.
