I have a hypothesis: In any gathering of musicians, if there is a disagreement as to music to listen to, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are always and every time the correct compromise.

I say this as a 42 year-old deaf-in-one-ear musician who started playing sax at 10 and also plays guitar and keyboard*, and I have friends with all sorts of different musical tastes.

*I distinguish between basic music theory that teaches keyboard, and actually learning to play piano properly

I am so incredibly proud: My husband (Brendon Bussy) is doing a presentation about his approach to teaching body and table percussion to Deaf teens, at the Creative Arts Conference at @rgjs1894 on the 1 March.

He says:

"Deaf kids can take all of this in and generate the coolest music. No Deaf kids are not quiet. They absorb what they see happening around them and transform it into something useful and absolutely unique."
