DAFNEE, a Database of Academia Friendly jourNals in Ecology and Evolution

@IngolfKuehn Overall, we need to be very careful about the message sent to ECRs, as pushing them to adopt an excessively "ethical" publication strategy (incl. diamond Open Access and/or no IF journals) can harm their career. Yet, there are simple guidelines: never write or review for predatory publishers (MDPI, Frontiers, IKpress, etc), and target #DAFNEE journals. Journal reputation goes well beyond their IF; "Evolution" and "BMC Ecol Evol" have similar IFs, but very different effects on CVs.
