Yup, 100%. The genAI corruption, and the general manipulation of search systems, makes it necessary to return to curated knowledge repositories and curated search.
There is room for commercial entities offering such services, and hopefully also for user-driven systems. A re-invention of the internet.

I remembered seeing something like this for tech sites, and while I can't find it I did get some interesting results by searching for:

I've also seen the idea called "boutique" or "custom" search.
Some people emulate this by doing a search with `site:reddit.com`, for example.
