What the heck is AEAD again?

Here’s a problem you might be familiar with: I keep forgetting what AEAD exactly means and why you would ever use it. Yes, I know the acronym stands for “Authenticated Encryption with Associated Data”, but does that really clarify anything? Not to me, so I’ve finally decided to sit down and write this blog post as a piece of help for my future self… and for anyone else who finds AEAD hard to retain.

Some #pioneers are playing semantic games, trying to distinguish between “#OpenMainnet” and “#OpenNetwork.”

It’s like splitting hairs! Both terms refer to the same thing: the public launch of the Pi Network.

While the official term is “Open Network,” the community often uses “Open Mainnet” as a synonym. It’s all the same, folks.

So, when some claim the “Open Network” is coming this year but the “Open Mainnet” is scheduled for March 14, 2025, it’s pure nonsense.
