Mr Crow pondering where to hide his two peanuts.

Update: Funny how I don't usually post pictures of the #crows when their beaks are full of peanuts because they're not the best pics in my opinion. But I guess y'all disagree as it's probably my most popular crow picture in a long time if not ever.

I'm pretty happy with this picture of Mr Crow from this morning.

(that's all, probably the shortest #CrowUpdate ever)

Mr Crow (2026/01/30)

I'm pretty happy with this picture I took of Mr Crow landing this morning. We can see that his wings are not in their best shape (it's been three winters in a row now that he had feathers breaking) but he's fine otherwise. A few seconds earlier, he was on

Good morning Mr Crow. Wow, you're hungry this morning. #crows #birds #CrowUpdate

Good morning Mr Crow. Wow, you're hungry this morning.

(fun fact: later, I was on the balcony, and Ms Crow landed on the guardrail - something she never does when I'm there - and she quickly realized it "wow, what am I doing there?" and flew of to the closest pole. It's partly my fault, when I heard her land, I shouldn't have turned around and spoken to her).

I'll end today's already too long #CrowUpdate with an anecdote from last night that is also a first. I got home shortly before dusk. One crow (I couldn't tell if it was Mr or Ms) was standing on the usual pole (see above) but I heard more cawing and saw not one but two crows on the next pole. However, when other crows do that, intimidation happens between "my" crows and the invaders (it mostly consists in raising the feathers on their head) and usually the invaders leave. Yesterday? ⤵️

I haven't posted a #CrowUpdate in a while, not because nothing was happening, but because I didn't take any good pictures in a while. But I need to update you a bit of the latest developments.
It may be a bit long. I'll also recap a few things for the new followers coming from my other account and who may be interested.
Let's start with the basics: three years ago, I befriended two #crows (a couple) who live in the park next door (this is not them on the picture)

I loved the pictures I took of Mr Crow so much today, that I safeguarded them in a blog post.

Birding (January 20th, 2026)

You may or may not know that I have two neighbors who happened to be a couple of crows and who have become my "friends." I need to tell you more about them and the whole experience of befriending them one day, but today, it's only a few pictures. First,

#CrowUpdate The morning started as usual. I spent a few minutes with the crows before bringing my son to school. Then, I noticed the neighbor "spying" on me and I decided that it was the right time to finally speak to her. As politely as possible, with a lot of smiles and a lot of "sumimasen" I explained in my broken Japanese that leaving the food as the does attracts the "south crows" and that they're not good people and probably responsible for Mr Crow's injuries ⤵️

Mr Crow doesn't want to come down. (Of course, he did just after I stopped filming)

#crows #CrowUpdate

Mini #CrowUpdate I got to spend some minutes with the crows this morning before work. All is fine, but it seems that Mr Crow has some more damaged feathers (will he ever fully heal). He can fly, though. At least for short distances (that could explain why he may have stopped roosting).

In the picture below, Ms Crow really wanted the peanut, but she thought I was took close for comfort. However, when I looked at my phone, she deemed it safe to grab it. ⤵️
