I may be going on a business trip to Lisbon next month.
Still hoping to keep up my plan for taking the train instead of flying, and I figured if I can take the train to Riga, then how hard can it be to get to Lisbon?
It's dead easy to get from London to Madrid by train. Doing the last stretch from Madrid to Lisbon turns out to be way more complicated than you could possibly imagine. Basically a whole day's travelling. This makes me sad.
...anyone else trying to book a train in Romania? I´ve been trying to get into the CFR Călători online system for 3 days now, to no avail. I´ve used it before without problems, and it doesn´t seem to be my network blocking the site, but I just get "This site can´t be reached". Grr.

Za kilka dni po raz pierwszy w trasę wyjedzie nowy pociąg PKP Intercity i Kolei Ukraińskich. Kurs połączy Przemyśl z Krzywym Rogiem przez Lwów i Kijów. Przed miesiącem w rozkładzie pojawiły się zaś pociągi z Chełma do Charkowa i z Przemyśla do Charkowa oraz Krzemieńczuka.

Passengers may bring as many items as they can carry onto the train in a single movement.
This common rule applies to all European carriers that are members of UIC and CER, ensuring one consistent policy for all international journeys"
So, it appears that RailEurope has started to charge "reservation fees" for SNCF reservations. A week or so ago I made this same booking on this same site and was not charged an extra fee.
This means that unless you actually go to a physical SNCF ticket office, phone SNCF, or buy it with a ticket, there is currently no way to buy a compulsory seat reservation without paying an extra fee on top of the cost of the reservation itself. Which instantly makes the already outrageous fees 2€ pricier for everybody.
It also means that despite SNCF reservations being fully refundable, you will still lose your 2€ reservation fee if you need to cancel.
