1 november och craftober är slut. Men inte hantverket. Aldrig. Jag har hantverkat varje dag under oktober, men på slutet hann jag inte fota.

Och som en fantastisk bonus avslutade jag craftober den 1:a november med att åka till goda vänner och stöpa ljus. Du vet den där typen av vänner där man kan vila i handarbetet och dess tystnad är som en varm filt som omsluter en utan att det känns avigt. Lite bilder från dagen och vad jag fick med mig hem. (Fick fantastiska 30 stöpta ljus men bara två av dem är med på bilden. Burkljusen och de i småskålarna är doftljus av soyavax.

November 1st and Craftober is over. But not the crafting. Never.
I’ve been crafting every day during October, but towards the end I didn’t have time to take photos.

And as a fantastic bonus, I wrapped up Craftober on November 1st by going to good friends to make candles. You know that kind of friend with whom the silence of good handicraft is like a warm blanket and not awkward.
Here are a few pictures from the day and what I brought home.
(I ended up with an amazing 30 hand-dipped candles, but only two of them are in the picture.
The jar candles and the ones in small bowls are scented soy wax candles.)

Craftober 27:e oktober:
Nästa grej från syfestivalen. En materialsats för en liten börs som jag köpte av @clurigt . Inget avancerat men ändå något som fyllde mina 30 minuter den här dagen och som jag blir glad av.

Another thing i bought at the sewing and crafting festival was a material kit for a smal pouch from Clurigt. Nothing fancy, biut even so it filled my 30 minutes of craft this day and something that making me happy.

Om jag nu ger bort mina grytlappar till mitt kära felag, så behöver jag ju nya egna. Det händer ju faktiskt att jag åker på andra event utan dem. Ett ganska ruffigt ylletyg fick bli grunden. Det är något mörkare än på bilden och visst kommer de bli sotiga, men det gör inget. De här är lätta att hitta i mörkret. Och med min lilla rungubbe på så klart.

If I’m giving away my potholders to my dear group, then I’ll need new ones for myself. After all, it does happen that I go to other events without them. A rather rough wool fabric became the base. It’s a bit darker than in the picture, and sure, they’ll get sooty — but that’s fine. These ones are easy to find in the dark. And of course, with my little rune man on them.

På syfestivalen köpte jag randigt linnetyg, likadant i grönt och rött. Nu har jag sytt två kuddöverdrag och klippt till resten av tyget för att sy handdukar av det.

Craftober 20:e oktober:
Japp, nu kommer det ett par dagar i oordning här. Men i måndags bestämde jag mig för att uppdatera mina event-grytlappar, de grytlappar som jag tar med mig när jag på historiska event, bor i tält och lagar mat över öppen eld. Men den hade blivit så smutsig och blandningen av sot och fett gick helt enkelt inte att få bort. Så av med rundelarna, tvätta de blå lapparna efter bästa förmåga och på med nya rundlar. Och eftersom de är lika mycket felagets grytlappar som mina, så broderade jag dit initialerna för föreningen istället för den tidigare rungubben. Nu är det våra gemensamma! (GF, nej G har ingen "egen" runa, under vikingatiden så jag använde samma runa som står för G på runstenen som vår gård och förening tagit sitt namn efter. Alltså K-runan.)
Varför en ljus rundel på den över huvudet taget?
Tja, försök hitta en mörkblå grytlapp på marken en sen augustikväll med bara glöden som ljuskälla...

Craftober, October 20th
Yep, things are going a bit out of order for a few days now. But last Monday I decided to update my event potholders. You know, the ones I bring along when I’m at historical reenactment events, living in a tent and cooking over an open fire.
Previously, they had a white circle with a little “rune man” embroidered on it. But it had gotten so dirty that the mix of soot and grease simply wouldn’t come out. So, off came the circles, I washed the blue fabric as best I could, and sewed on new ones.
And since these potholders have become as much the fellowship’s as mine, I embroidered the initials of our group instead. Now they’re truly ours! (GF — and no, there’s no separate rune for “G” in the Viking Age, so I used the same rune, the K-rune that stands for G on the runestone our homestead and association took its name from)
Why a light-colored circle at all?
Well, try finding a dark blue potholder on the ground on a late August evening when the only light comes from the embers…

craftober 25/10:
Idag tillbringade jag dagen på Sy och hantverksfestivalen i Stockholm. Som vanligt fotade jag bara mina intryck under första halvtimmen, sedan gick strosandet över till att trängas och försöka minnas vad jag hade planerat att köpa... jag hade ju glömt min fina lilla lista hemma. 😂
Väl hemma igen visade det sig att jag hade kommit ihåg det mesta och dessutom hittat en hel del oplanerat. Enda jag glömt var vitt linne till en folkdräktsblus, och gråmelerat redgarn. Däremot hittade jag linnet (sista bilden) som ska bli en jullöpare och sedan kuddvar. Och jag hittade tyg hos @Edurstotter som ska bli två kaftaner/koftor, och annat tyg från @Textilpoolen som ska bli tunikor. Inte att förglömma tyg hos @korps som ska bli basen i ännu fler broderier vad tiden lider.
Så jag har att göra även de resterande dagarna av craftober, och mer därtill.

Craftober, October 25th:
Today I spent the day at the Sewing and Craft Festival in Stockholm. As usual, I only photographed my impressions during the first half hour, then the wandering turned into squeezing through crowds and trying to recall what I had planned to buy... since I had forgotten my nice little list at home. 😂
Once I got back home, it turned out I had remembered most of it— even found quite a few unplanned treasures. The only thing I forgot was white linen for a folk costume blouse, and grey mélange embroidery yarn. However, I did find linen (the last photo), which will become a table runner for Christmas and later be remade as pillow covers. I also found fabric at Edurstotter’s booth that will become two kaftans/cardigans, and other fabrics from @Textilpoolen that will turn into tunics. Not forget the fabrics from @korps.se that will become even more embroidery soon enough.
So I’ll have plenty to work on for the remaining of Craftober—and beyond!

En ny variant på granen, som jag gillade bättre och därför fortsatte dagen därpå och la dit en slinga av grankvist också. Det här blir bra. Riktigt bra.

Och under äppelträdet hittade jag nästa lövhög. Är det inte härligt med hösten ändå! Alla färgglada löv, den klara luften och att njuta av tända ljus och sprakandet från kaminen. Precis nu börjar den tiden. Tiden för att kura skymning.

Craftober 16:e oktober:
En brandfilt som jag håller på med just nu. Har haft svårt att hitta rätt ljus för att göra det olivgröna yllet rättvisa, men så hittade jag den här lövhögen, och i dagsljusets sista timma blev det plötsligt rätt.
