The recently launched SpainSat NG-2 satellite was struck by a "space particle," while on its was on its way to geostationary orbit.

This was the second military communications satellite launched by Spain designed to pair with SpainSat NG-1 (Airbus-built) satellite to create an "advanced government communications system" in Europe. The extent of the damage is currently unknown.

This week, a new technology was tested in Jõgisoo, Harju County, as part of a nearly €1.3 million research project. Using cosmic radiation and artificial intelligence, the technology aims to assess the technical condition of bridges without the need for destructive testing.
