The Tennessee Titans took quarterback Cam Ward, a University of Miami star who graduated from Columbia High School near Houston, with the No. 1 overall selection Thursday night in the NFL draft.

Ward, a University of Miami quarterback, graduated from Columbia High School, which is about 60 miles south of Houston. Two other players from the Houston area, offensive lineman Kelvin Banks Jr. and wide receiver Matthew Golden, also were selected in the first round.
