Defining a career path is what helps us identify and advertise the experience we have gained.

Over the last decade, there’s been a consistent effort to lower barriers to the accessibility of research software.

💡 In this blog post, @codemonkey_mike discusses how his team at #CollabW24 came up with “Task Management for Humans as Self-Care” which ended up winning the top prize at the Hack Day. Read the full article at https://www.software.ac.uk/blog/task-management-humans-self-care

Can task management tools, often used by our corporate overlords to exploit us, actually help us improve our mental health?

Definitely much quieter today with BOFs underway at #RSECon24. Currently in the project management session where Sarah Jaffa is trying to get us to put people over processes. Currently listening to @codemonkey_mike summarizing the @SoftwareSaved #CollabW24's hack day project "Task Management for Humans as Self-Care" being really honest about why he cares. One of the reasons I love CWs is the projects it kickstarts. So many sessions here were just CW ideas a few months ago.

At the @SoftwareSaved's #CollabW24 we did a collaborative session on how research software engineers (#RSE) can engage in and contribute to #citizenscience projects.

Thanks to a lot of work by @ccamara this has now culminated in a “speed-blog post" on the SSI blog: https://www.software.ac.uk/blog/how-rses-can-engage-and-benefits-doing-so-citizen-science-projects

In this blog we will explain what citizen science is and the different roles involved.

💡 In this first #CollabW24 speed blog @ccamara, @gedankenstuecke, Georgia Aitkenhead, Rachel Alcraft, and @nickynicolson explore ways in which RSEs can engage in citizen science projects. Had a great afternoon at #CollabW24

First we had a great discussion about #CitizenScience and how research software engineers can contribute to it, followed by a mini-workshop on "community co-creation" that my colleagues Georgia Aitkenhead, @KirstieJane and I co-facilitated.

And rounding it out now with Lucy Robinson talking on "creating advocates through community science".

#CollabW24 brings together researchers, software developers, managers, funders and more to explore important ideas in software and research

The Turing Way has long roots at Collaborations Workshop: we were first launched at #CollabW19 as a lightly opinionated guide to data science!

This year, we're celebrating our 5 year anniversary at #CollabW24, complete with cake and celebrations! 🎂🎉
