Code4LibBC 2025: Day 2 lightning talk notes

Notes from the second day of Code4libBC 2025.

Learning (Lib)Tech

I’ve been a librarian long enough that I’ve seen a few cycles of crises and trends.

So many of us are already sooo tired and so discouraged by this one.

Hope to see folks probably on the Friday at #c4lbc #code4libBC if at all possible -- looking forward to some good conversations!
So I'm going, unaffiliated, to #code4libBC (#c4lbc, I see the hashtag is supposed to be) this month. I'd like to be affiliated again. If anyone has the clout and would be interested in locally developed utilities and services like, say, https://open.library.ubc.ca/ , I'll be the tall skinny long haired guy haunting the snacks table.

Thinking about whether to attend #Code4libBC #c4lbc this year. It’s been a few years since I’ve been, and a bit torn between wanting to see people (likely with some FOMO) and not being a technology librarian anymore.
That was a nice two days up @viu with the #code4libBC folks. Closest thing I've found in libraryland to my one-time favourite grassroots edtech community ETUG
If #code4libBC folks are interested, I wrote a piece in my early days in libraryland on "When is a book not a book" https://scottleslie.ca/2016/06/20/exhaustion-doctrine/
