Real #research question, is there any study on the #mentalhealth among #climateresearchers? I wonder how litteraly working on how (fast) the world is burning while being basically ignored by the people in power (or worst with Trump administration) affects your mental #health and if there is any care taken about it. I know there are general research about climate anxiety in the general population, but I was wondering about the specific case of researchers.

With so many vital systems protecting the US public being tampered with-- whether hastily and thoughtlessly or methodically uncaring-- we're challenged to understand the scope of potential harms we're now facing.

And the upshot isn't confined to the United States.

Being better informed leads to better decisions and even decisions where none might have been made at all, a decision to participate.

Join US #meteorologists and #ClimateResearchers to hear details of how we're kept safe by the weather and climate science community--- and how we can stay that way:

"From Wednesday, May 28th to Sunday, June 1st, join meteorologists and climate scientists from across the US as we share our work, and show you what makes it so vital. We will clarify the impact of the cuts on this research, and answer your questions about weather and climate research in the US. Information on how to watch is coming soon. If you are a scientist who wants to participate, please visit this speakers page to learn more."

> In a late-2022 survey of almost 500 #ClimateScientists worldwide,.. #GlobalWitness found that almost 40% had been targeted with online harassment or abuse in response to their work, and 8% had received death threats. One of them reported, “The death (and rape) threats were extended to my children.”
> #ClimateResearchers are frequently quoted in the press these days, given the onrush of unprecedented #ClimaticEvents, and that brings even more targeting.

Scientists Pursue Climate Activism Despite Violent Threats

They’re turning to nonviolent climate protest, including civil disobedience, to demand that governments take bold action to snuff out the use of oil, gas, and coal.

"BP has scaled back its climate ambitions as it announced that annual profits more than doubled to $28bn (£23bn) in 2022 after a sharp increase in gas prices linked to the Ukraine war boosted its earnings.

"... The oil and gas giant cut its emissions pledge and plans a greater production of oil and gas over the next seven years compared with previous targets."
