The more bloodthirsty would go for the Taiping rebellion in China from 1850 which featured Jesus' brother and, by some estimates, 150 million dead.

Does it benefit us to broaden our views of Christianities?

That's an insight into self-obsession and maybe B.R. identifies one root of today's hyper-individualism.

Perhaps our culture's hyper-individualism could be traced to more Christianities which stressed the importance of internal psychological states and events.

Though the Puritan ethics would seem to have been a brake on, or obstacle to, actions which were openly me, me, me. cf #DonaldTrump
