#PhilipRuddock has come out of retirement to announce that he thinks politicians these days are too concerned for their futures to be true servants of the people.
Alas, as one who played a key role in the deliberately false allegations regarding the behaviour and character of asylum seekers, in order to further his own selfish political ambitions, he knows only too well how corrupt and self-serving politicians can be. But he thinks we have forgotten. No amount of superannuation is going to stop people like him from continuing to do what they do in politics. #auspol #ChildrenOverboard
Stacey Campbell@timrichards They did some polling after the vote here (America) and it turns out Trump voters appear to be wildly misinformed about things they claimed to care about (inflation, economy, immigration, etc).
They thought inflation was up, it's down. They thought illegal immigration was up, it's down. They thought unemployment was up, it's down, etc.
So as long as Australian voters are well informed and aren't racist or racist adjacent everything should be ok.
@cathywilcox Hmm, fairly sure Australia has a good amount of home-grown versions of all this, without resorting to imports. Call it convergent evolution of racism and intolerance. E.g. the way the wolf in North America and the thylacine in Australia filled the same ecological niche in the environment.
