Our leading lady Phyllis Haver started her career as a piano accompaniment for silent films at her local theaters. On a whim she auditioned for Mack Sennett and became a “Sennett Bathing Beauty” before embarking on 15yr long film career of nearly 110 credited films She retired in 1930 after making 2 final talkies. Sadly, she passed away from suicide in 1960💔

If the story seems familiar to you that’s because it’s based on a 1926 satire play by playwright Maurine Dallas Watkins. You can read it for free here (https://archive.org/details/chicago-1926). In the mid 1970s Bob Fosse, John Kander and Fred Ebb turned the story into a musical. You can read the book for the musical here (https://archive.org/details/chicagomusicalva0000kand). This later became the 2002 hit movie musical
