The massive castle set was designed by Lloyd Wright, son of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright. It featured a real concrete floor and a drawbridge constructed out of wood-covered steel. Due to the shear size and cost of the set, Fairbanks would later reuse portions of it in “The Thief of Bagdad” (1924)

Bennett and her husband would both retire from films in the early 1930s but she’d continue taking sporadic roles until the early 1940 when after making just over 50 films she hung it up for good. Despite only making “Robin Hood’ (1922) together, she would remain close with co-star Douglas Fairbanks Sr. until his 1939 passing.

Leading lady Enid Bennett was an Australian actress who began her career in an acting troupe led by American married collaborators Fred Niblo & Josephine Cohan that traveled to every major settlement in Australia. She would later marry Niblo after Cohan’s untimely death and by 1916, She would be living in NYC working both on Broadway and with Niblo on films that would establish him as one of the first major American film directors.
