My new friend in Khevsureti. I don't know whether it has an owner or whether it is a stray dog. There are many stray dogs in Georgia. It always pains me to see them.

This church was destroyed during the Soviet era and rebuilt in 2012 (in a village in Lower Khevsureti, north-eastern Georgia, in the Caucasus). It is said that this site was a sacred place for the Khevsurs in pre-Christian times. Pre-Christian traditions live on to this day in Khevsur culture, as they do among the neighbouring Pshavs and the Svans.
