"As the hydroelectric plant restarted, the river fell to 6.48 inches below the top of the dam at 12:45 p.m.
It was almost an inch and a half improvement from the mark of 5.16 inches at 8:45 a.m. Friday, according to the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division."

Early afternoon (Eastern Daylight Time) update on the Cheboygan Dam in northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan:
"In addition to Cheboygan Dam – which was 6 about inches away from spilling over on Wednesday, April 15, – state officials identified six other northern Michigan dams as critical infrastructure under threat from the rising water."
I didn't realize all 83 counties of Michigan are under a flood watch.
In Cheboygan:
"They have removed spillway gates to increase flow capacity, brought in 11 large pumps, including two 24-inch pumps that can each move 10,000 gallons per minute.
They plan to run those pumps around-the-clock with contractors, DNR oversight, fuel trucks and fuel cells supporting the operation."
Whoa.
"A levee on the Little Black River near the Cheboygan Country Club spilled over, sending a cascade of water over the golf course and prompting an evacuation order for people living nearby.
Those people now found themselves caught between that rushing water and the dam in downtown Cheboygan, which they’d been watching all week."

"If the water level reaches 6 inches below the top of the dam, at a rate of 3 or more inches per day and predicted to top the dam within 48 hours, the emergency managers' ;ready, set, go" warning system would reach the 'set' phase, meaning residents in the area should pack and prepare family, pets and vehicles for potential evacuation."

The “Ready, Set, Go” system is a three-stage warning used to signal escalating flood risk and guide residents on when to prepare and evacuate.
The ready mark indicates residents should plan or pack for possible evacuation.
“Set” is if water is six inches below the top of the dam and predicted to top the dam within two days.
It means to prepare your family pets and cars for potential evacuation.
“Go” is if water is an inch below the top of the dam with a high probability of topping it.
