Pueblo Bonito at Chaco Canyon just after sunrise. The layered masonry was the real subject…the starburst cresting the wall was the accent. Beth and I camped here and got up before dawn for the light.

Fajada Butte at sunrise, Chaco Canyon. First light on the rock while the sky was still deep blue. Branches nearby gave me a natural frame on both sides.
Pueblo Bonito, Chaco Canyon. Layers of rooms and walls reaching toward the sky. Close to a thousand years and they’re still holding their ground.
Pueblo Bonito, Chaco Canyon. Dust we kicked up caught a sunbeam between the dark room and the golden doorway beyond. Some moments you just have to be ready for.
Trail through the canyon floor at Chaco. The bluffs catch the afternoon light and the sky fills in above. The walks between sites are close to as good as the ruins themselves.

Fajada Butte at Chaco Canyon. Last light on the rock, everything else in shadow. It’s been catching this same light for a very long time.
Bench at Pueblo Bonito, Chaco Canyon. Got low and let the wood grain fill the frame while Beth wandered off shooting with her Z50. Sometimes you find a composition while you’re just sitting around.
Pueblo Bonito, Chaco Canyon. Walls rising several stories, windows open to sky at every level. Hard not to think about who looked out of them centuries ago.
Thanks for taking a moment to look.
