Neben der Höhle des Iwan Rilski steht eine kleine Kirche mit Quelle, deren Wasser Gläubigen Heilkräfte zuschreiben. Nun, auch ich fülle meine Flasche mit dem Quellwasser – auf jeden Fall schmeckt der eiskalte Bergquell herrlich frisch.

In dieser Höhle soll Iwan Rilski gelebt haben, der Eremit welcher im 10. Jhd das Rila-Kloster gründete. Der Ort riecht trotz Frost nach dem Bienenwachs der Kerzen, ist mit Ikonen überhäuft und in jeder Ritze im Stein stecken Wunschzettel der Gläubigen.
