I fucking hate the map design in this game.

I'm trying to go to the upper left corner of a room in Machine Tower. The only way up is to get across a number of moving platforms, then you have to wait on one of them for a good long while. Why?

Because there's a low ceiling above the entire track of one moving platform, and the next platform you need to go to is to the left of that ceiling. As such, you have a narrow window where your platform is at its leftmost end while the next platform is at its rightmost end.

So while waiting, you have to deal with Medusa Heads petrifying you, because you can't fucking dodge them (the ceiling is also electric) and your attack is so bloody narrow that you can hit the Medusa Heads like 1 in 10 times.

Is this game seriously just Symphony of the Night but with NES Castlevania controls? Because it sure feels like it.

I'm trying to enter this room that requires climbing all these moving platforms, but I have to contend with two extremely damage-spongey enemies that can fly around freely and spam hard-hitting attacks. And their contact damage is also a lot.

Ok, I see how it is. This game's boss design philosophy is

1. Have the boss off-screen 99% of the time, so you can't see what the heck it's doing.

2. Have the boss hover well above the ground so anything less than a frame-perfect attack while jumping can hit it.

I played up until I defeated Cerberus. Took a few tries.

The lunge attacks are kinda weird. I'm not really sure how to dodge the lunge when Cerberus is blue, since it just jumps to you no matter where you are, it seems.

I've dodged it exactly one time by going to the highest platform and happening to jump at the right time to avoid the lunge. (I can't see it when I do so because it's off-screen.)

And before that, I kept trapping myself between it and a wall after the laser, so that was just really silly of me

I don't know if it's because it's been a while since I played Symphony of the Night, but the combat here feels a lot clunkier...

The slide is pretty awkward since you need to make sure you hold down long enough to crouch before you can press jump. It's not very fluid.

And I don't know how you're supposed to use the items that consume hearts; there's only 6 buttons and none of them work.

Started playing Castlevania Circle of the Moon. I'm playing it via the Advanced Collection on Steam and uhhh, the keyboard controls were clearly an afterthought, huh?

I expected better of M2, but I guess their works have typically been on console and not PC. But if that was the case, I would've been better off emulating...

Yeah, I could plug in a controller, but I was only gonna play for a bit (only played for 40 minutes) and I typically have no issues playing on keyboard... as long as I can remap keys. The default controls are so awkward and you can't remap them. I'd much prefer having WASD for movement.

Yesterday I was in the mood to ply something different. Insert #CastlevaniaCircleOfTheMoon.
I haven’t really played it, and the collection seems alright. Not sure if I’ll play through it all, but I hear there are many different characters you can play as
