I love a good alternate history novel and I revel in the details of world building. I also want to see the what if of all the indigenous peoples and cultures of the Americas before or in spite of the European arrival. Cahokia Jazz by Francis Spufford offers that and a noir detective novel as well. Set in the 20’s, jazz, a murder mystery, a femme fatale, speakeasies all combine to make a compelling hard to put down story. I really enjoyed it.

Forget it, Jake, it's Cahokia.

Heh heh.

I think #CahokiaJazz is my favorite book of 2024 so far.
