@txt_file @lina Yooo, WTF?

How is that not a violation of #ConsumerRghts?

Cuz in my eyes it's none of their business how and where I use their stuff - if at all!

Soooo... PayPal is banning Asahi Linux users. Hey, can you maybe not do that please? https://gist.github.com/asahilina/31dd6bf3cde26a51e0fc1414e1abe730 Yes, they ban Linux users with a GPU name containing the string "Apple M1". Anything else works. Edit: To be clear they're banning the platform from access, not individual accounts. This won't get your account banned. Edit 2: Alternate workaround: Spoof a Mac OS / Safari user agent. As you'd expect, "Apple M1" is allowed then.

@AVincentInSpace @erkhyan Cuz it's the foundational basis of #PeterThiel, a white-hot gloeing antisemite, and #ElonMusk...

Not to mention they charge absurdly high fees, absurdly high currency conversions rates and always choose the most inconvenient option whether they are a #bank from #Luxembourg or a #corporation from the #USA.

  • as a matter if fact, Luxembourg's finance regulator, #CSSF, had to literally employ dedicaded staff just to deal with #PayPal doing absurd shite!

@elilla @fuchsiii @LunaDragofelis yeah...

#PayPal being a greedy garbage #corporation is nothing new to anyone who had to deal with them.

AFAIK the #CSSF (Luxembourg's financial regulator) had to employ additional Staff dedicaded to complaints re: PayPal.

  • And I'm not shure PayPal pays even remotely enough taxes there to offset that cost...

I'd rather want to switch to #Monero for everything than having to deal with PayPal...

@byte yes, #PayPal is an absolute shitshow and the only way you can get them ti nit be assholes is to instantly complain to everyone from your local consumer orotection agency to their regulators, the #CSSF in #Luxembourg.

They are literally known to randomly close accounts and ban people (through verifyably no fault of their customers) from their services.

  • Also a single person not using said transfer as "PayPal Friends & Family" can get one's personal account frozen alongside assets.
CSSF – The Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier is a public institution which supervises the professionals and products of the Luxembourg financial sector.

@ph00lt0 @GrapheneOS Eeyupp, and the #CSSF has personnel just to deal with  alone.

Which is kinda remarkable as for a tiny state like #Luxembourg I hope that #PayPal generates enough #tax revenue to offset aditional staff just do handle complaints about them.

Remember: a #BankingLicense is a privilegue, not a #Right in the sense that regulators "#MustIssue" or even "#ShallIssue" them...

At least that's what I can tell without violating NDAs with former employers...

@GrapheneOS yeah,  #PayPal does that shit.

I'd recommend writing them an #eMail and seeking legal consultation on pressing charges for #theft against them as well as opening a complaint at their regular #CSSF in #Luxemborg.

CSSF – La Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier est un établissement public qui assure la surveillance des professionnels et des produits du secteur financier luxembourgeois.

@FuckElon @chris @aral

So yeah, banks trying that number would risk being hold in contempt and made liable for damages if they tried that here...
https://mastodon.social/@FuckElon/110611105245974398

And that's why the #CSSF in #Luxembourg literally has people that solely deal with #PayPal and their actions, like holding customers at ransom...

I sincerely hope #Monero will become the predominant casless payment and that people use cash whereever they can't wait 6-8mins for a transaction to finalize...

@balrogboogie #PayPal is such a scammy company, their actual regulat, #CSSF is #Luxembourg, literally had to hire people just to enforce #ConsumerRights upon that wannabe but "legally being a #bank" shit corporation...
@KindlyWizard @hyenagirl64 #Protip: Unless you want to deal with #CSSF as their regulator, simply closing and ope ing a new PayPal account is far easier...

@alyx I just hope #PayPal gets legally forced to change that shit.

Also it's literally the worst payment processor on earth and the fact that #CSSF in #Luxembourg as their regulator had to employ people just to handle PayPal's bs is just mind-boggling.

Espechally since they willy-nilly choose to be either a U.S. tech firm or Luxembourg bank however it inconveniences their users and customers the most.
