CONvergence, Minnesota’s largest fan-run science fiction and fantasy convention, is coming back to Minneapolis for four days on July 6–9, 2023. CONvergence has traditionally been held around the 4th of July holiday, but after moving to a new venue in downtown Minneapolis, the organizers spent a few years holding the annual convention in August. This year marks their return to their traditional weekend, and many people who were unable to attend in August are planning their return as attendees. In addition, 2023 will be the first year in CONvergence's history that the event will offer one-day passes to convention attendees. This year, CONvergence's theme is fashion, costumes, and cosplay, although all fandom and geeky interests are typically celebrated at the event and this year's convention schedule continues to reflect that. Guests of honor at CONvergence 2023 will be award-winning Afrofuturist author Maurice Broaddus, PhD linguist and audiobook director Collette Feehan, local celebrity fashion designer Samantha Rei, and international cosplay entertainer, philanthropist, and stuntman Michael “Knightmage” Wilson.Twin Cities Geek will have a fan table just outside the Dealers Room, so stop by if you are planning to attend the convention. We will have free bookmarks and geek cards and some other fun freebies as usual! If you waited until now to purchase your membership badge for CONvergence, you can use code TWINCITIESGEEK to get $10 off your full-weekend adult badge at checkout! Please be aware that CONvergence is requiring face masks worn over the nose and mouth for everyone over three years old in most convention spaces.
