@adisonverlice Problem lies with the implementation of #CTIA as a short-to-ground signalling.

  • The DSP & Analog part of any audio cobtroller need to detect it as such and process it accordingly as well as forward it to the OS like a button input.

And unlike #Touchscreen-obly devices there's enough space and real estate to do audio cnbtrols on anythibg with a keyboard - if necessary with a #Fn-Key - Combo.

  • Or in the case of USB-Audio - ICs like the #CM108 they implement the buttons often in hardware on the device and forward them like a multimedia key press to the OS, and that works fine too...

@esm Those ain't DACs but passive USB-C Audio adaptors because analog TRRS to USB adaptors are part of USB-C's specification.

But in return even the C-Media #CM108 which you can find in those chonky USB Dongles work fine for gaming.

#CM108 USB Soundcard putting out a 1200Hz sine wave .... Signal is looking funny.... Discretization is clearly visible. Each step is approx 10µs, regardless of the sampling rate used to generate the sine wave.
