The deal effectively transformed legislation with real teeth into a 5-year “public-private partnership” that, for a reason that no one has yet been able to explain, includes millions in funding for an “AI accelerator.” It’s a disaster."

Of course they do! What prisoner won’t try to curry favor with the jailer holding the keys? For that matter, what jailer won’t fall prey to a the prisoner’s seduction?

Unregulated #surveillancecapitalism corrupts us all.

I don’t know the provisions of the #CJPA well enough (yet) to comment directly.

Google’s recent threat to curtail their investment in the “news ecosystem” shows their leader’s willingness to put profit over probity.
