This town is already bisected with only 2 road crossings in all of downtown. If anything the required HSR grade separations will improve this town
allenRail materials for the California High Speed Rail will be procured very soon according to this announcement. In a year or two we'll see track start to get installed, at this pace.
California state government is stepping up to the plate - shouldering the full cost of the electric rail system materials. I think this is a good move to keep out the feds that like to meddle in this project (you know who).

This is relevant for us here in CA since #CAHSR's plans to integrate high-floor HSR trains with local service like CalTrain and Metrolink is a bit of a mess.
(I am frankly hopeful that those extra high-level doors on CalTrain's EMU's will stay permanently sealed, since I don't see how the heck bikes and wheelchairs are supposed to manage with them).
