2025 has definitely been a weird year..

and let me personally not sugar coat the years qualities of perplexing confusion for a wider world, feeling into magikal dimensions, awkward coziness in unexpected connective situations, that led to deep excavations into the caverns of what it is to be part of a conscious earth. If emotions allow for a well rounded life story, then the taproot of my heart muscle was deeply electrified on every level of intensity, making what is personal, even more unintentionally political. I must say the Lunar Year of the Snake was a fitting archetype to embody the shedding of an old skin, representing misguided habits and hollow faiths, long awaiting a transformation into something a bit more raw, empathetic, and vulnerable.

I began the year with an art residency in the Swiss Alps. Experiencing the closeness of a temporary creative community that coaxed a review of communal goals and values specifically in social tech and IRL interfaces . Swapping out Instagram for Mastodon, and birthing this Newsletter into reality was a big personal deal and I’m so glad you’ve met me here.

On my return back from the Alps, I had been invited to host my first official ‘Introduction to Solarpunk’ workshop to a group of Internationally based teachers with the Berlin based, NGO One Resilient Earth. I had been in the works of concocting a carefully crafted presentation, talk, meditation, art making session with collective sharing, that involved actively imagining our current surroundings. And I had the opportunity to guide participants into alchemizing their personal state of despair into something more communally creative within the art & literary movement that is Solarpunk.

The ‘Introduction to Solarpunk’ workshop, soon after launched into a monthly occurrence that took place at my studio Lichtengarten Studio & Gallery, at Eco Markets & Festivals, in community organised spaces and at a high school. With every gathering I noticed an invisible layer of connective tissue form amongst participants, that often ripped my heart center open in love and admiration for the personal exhibitions of deeply channeled stories and sketches presented by the groups individuals. One participant professed "I didn't know my imagination contained that kind of power" and another bystander explained “that talk was more relaxing than the yoga class I took this morning”,... no shade on yoga of course.

In the process of these workshops, I had been invited back to the mountain in Switzerland over the summer, aligning further with the ever evolving creative and local communities there. Taking up part-time work in one of Berlin’s oldest tree nurseries with whom I call ‘the tree people’, engaging with my local community & urban garden at a civic level, collaborating with a collective of artists, organisers and performers with The Vegetable Parliament and par-taking in the group directed exhibition Friends of the Mushroom. I was living by my personal values, however the year was not without its challenges, specifically when it came to some financial set-backs, an on-going copyright infringement of my artistic work and that layer shedding that sometimes involves letting go of aspects that threaten to hinder a steadfast evolution. Sometimes the only way forward is through, and I feel I’d only be telling you half the year’s story if it was only the positives. The binaries mirror each other, and become one range, a spectrum of color and a graduation into other dimensions I didn’t know even existed before that journey was embarked on. So if there is anything I wish for you in a closing of 2025, I hope it is gentle contemplation, paired with this passing, unhinged, clasped palms pumping, ribbon snapping victory lap around the sun. Let’s go into 2026 with more empathy, personal power and deep knowing our collective connection is our gentle strength.
