Howdy folks.

I'm Jack. Trans butch leather man.

Recently completed a BS in Management, focusing on strategic management, culminating in an article on ethical gay bar management.

Working on a Master's degree in Management Information Systems, focusing in on using data to drive the retail grocery industry.

Employed as a researcher for a local university and sometimes selling vintage clothing to pay my bills.

Done with headshots and on to business lunch of coors banquet, studying, and a weird taco salad at my favorite bar near campus.

Howdy! My name is Jack and I'm a small business researcher in Florida. I'm trying to finish up my qualitative research thesis in my current degree before gays become completely illegal in FL.

Aside from my thesis work on the management of gay bars, I've also researched paranormal tourism, heritage tourism, and methods of communicating sensitive information in restricted spaces.

Thinking a bit about my own place in time and space with a new attempt at a blog post.

The Ever Popular Tortured Transgender Artist Effect

In 1982, Todd Rundgren released his tenth studio album with the farcical title "The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect". Though it was an album personally snubbed by Rundgren, it did pr...

Mr.Jack

I suppose the pro/con of being a gay business academic currently studying LGBTQ owned businesses is that my work keeps becoming more and more relevant to the concerns of business owners, but I also am becoming less and less valuable to PhD programs.

Sometimes it’s really hard to choose between the trans pride tie that’s distinguished but utterly slutty and the trans pride tie that’s silly but also “don’t fuck with me”

Creating (yet another!) thread to keep track of choice things I've said items of #LGBTQ pop culture as part of my thesis work.

The peak of my academic life (up to this point) is really going to come from using classic queer media as sources for my thesis. So far I'm at:
1. The Boys in the Band (1968, 1970, 2018)
2. La Cage aux Folles (1973, 1978)
3. The Birdcage (1996)
4. Paris Is Burning (1990)
5. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1973, 1975)

They all connect back to the creation of queer spaces...somehow. La Cage aux Folles is even literally about managing a drag bar.

Re: my comments about tuxedos
If there’s any queer men on this server who:
1. Own a tuxedo
2. Can be in Pensacola for the last weekend of October
Then I need to borrow you to attend an important benefit function with some of the straightest people in the world.

In the work that has already been produced on my research focus, the face off that I've seen most often is gay bar versus LGBTQ bar.
The argument from one side is that gay bar is unnecessary gendering and creates the atmosphere of a strictly men's bar. The argument from the other direction is that gay has become a more generalized term and is no longer as gendered.

What I'm concerned about is how that impacts the ROI. (joke)
