THE WILD…
A walk on kunanyi-Mt Wellington's southern flank takes us high above a river to follow the route of Hobart's water supply to its source. An easy and popular walk, the Pipeline Track takes you through cool temperate rainforest.

More Mt. Baw Baw. Keep bumping into Baron Ferdinand von Mueller. Bit of a hero of mine, first encountered him when studying horticulture in a previous life. Couple of weeks back I was standing in his study at the caretakers cottage in the royal Melbourne botanical gardens.

Made it to Mt. Baw Baw.
Decided to do the summit trail, only 4km, not the full 12km I had planned before all the distractions. There is a particular smell that alpine snow gums give off which is different from the normal eucalyptus smell. It lets you know you are on the top of Australia.

Distraction 3 on way to Mt Baw Baw.
The Amphitheater Falls.
Easy trail from Toorongo falls to these falls then back down to car park.

Decided to go for a hike up on Mt. Baw Baw last Saturday but got distracted around Noojee.
Turned off to see the trestle bridge and then did the old rail trail walk into Noojee, a round trip of 4km.

THE WILD…
Crossing Tasmania's Franklin River is easier these days than it was when we had to cross via flying fox.

An old photo reawakens memories on journeys past, and on the present state of wilderness walking.
