A major UK trial of a controversial feed additive designed to reduce emissions of planet-warming methane gas by dairy cows -now reviewing the results of the tests on 30 farms in #UK About 1,400 out of 2,000 dairy farms in #DK are currently using #Bovaer. A spokesperson for Bovaer manufacturer DSM-firmenich said the company was "aware that in recent days, some farmers have raised concerns about cow health".

Disappointed to see #Sheffield dairy farm Our Cow Molly buying into completely unsubstantiated right wing conspiracy theories about Bovaer. The video they've linked to takes safety issues when handling the raw substance and tries to conflate it to the far lower concentrations that go into the cattle feed. There's also no evidence that it ends up in the milk, or that it negatively affects milk yields.

They're also buying into the campaign wealthy landowners are mounting against Labour's removal of farmers' exemption from inheritance tax in a big way, with banners on display. Guess I'll be finding somewhere else to get my milk and ice cream.
