New film about the infamous “Blue Boy” trial which ‘effectively outlawed gender reassignment surgery in Japan until 1998’.

The film features trans actors and the director, Kasho Iizuka, is a trans man.

Interesting what he says about how trans women in 1960s Japan had to ‘overexpress’ femininity.

This requirement to hyperconform was still very much the case for trans men & women in the 1990s when I transitioned here in the UK.

The film is showing in Manchester and will be on at the ICA in London on Friday 13th Feb.
